We have two postcards carrying this picture, with different writing on the back. The first has Grace's writing with annotations by Confidential. It reads: (GRACE EMILY GERTRUDE LITTLEJOHNS & RONALD EDWIN COLDE LITTLEJOHNS CIRCA 1917 writer is Grace Littlejohns) myself + Ron Taken during the War at Whitton Essex (WHITTON is actually Suffolk not Essex).The second has Grace's sister (Bessie) Elizabeth Drage Porter, writing to her husband Arthur Allberry. The annotations are by Confidential. It reads: Dear Arthur Thought you might want these *socks? books?* hope you are well All send love Bess (This is not the same writer as the other photo Bess would have been Elizabeth (Bessie) Drage Allberry (nèe Porter) and Arthur was her husband Arthur Allberry I think she refers to "Socks" Arthur may have been at the war) | |
