I found this photograph in an album previously owned by Dorothy Ellen Roberts-Purchase.
I believe that they are her parents,
Richard Roberts Purchase and
(Polly) Mary Selina Jones, in about 1877.
The rear of the photo indicates that
the photographer was Joseph Norris, 5 Union Passage, Birmingham.
That photographer operated there between about 1862 and 1885.
The design of the rear indicates the 1870s.
The couple were married in Birmingham in 1877, and they look about the right
age. He would have been about 22, she about 17.
